Thread OP
ABERDEENSHIRE
Could you please help me identify the plant (weed) in the attached photos as it is spreading rapidly in my borders and grass. It was first noticed about 4 years ago, is rootless and prefers wet\moist ground. I would also be grateful if you could advise how best to destroy it especially in the grass. Thanks for your help.

Welcome! to the forum MorrisonBhoy!
It looks kind of like Pennywort, Hydrocotyle sibthorpioides. Your best choice of control is 2,4-D for the ones in the grass or Round-up for the ones on bare ground.

I think it may be dichondra, but the advise is the same. But, roundup for grass would be better if you're spraying in your grass. It takes some time to work (I spray once a week for a month) and I've... doubled the amount they say to use. I'm not familiar with regular ol' roundup and if it works faster, but it will kill grass too if that's something you're concerned about.

The photo is a bit out of focus but from what I can see of the shape of the leaves, I believe it's Hydrocotyle too.

Clearer photos would clear a lot up. I thought it was Liverwort. Hilarious!

Not the one that isn't meant to kill grass. Whistling They make two different ones, we buy the one meant for "Southern Lawns."

It's not actually Round-up (glyphosate). It's a mix of Dicamba, 2,4-D, Penoxsulam and Sulfentrazone. Actual glyphosate will kill or seriously damage all plants. Why Monsanto would label something Round-up when there's so much negative publicity associated with it is a wonder. I know there is significant name recognition, but not all that good.

So Roundup= Glyphosate? I will have to make a note in that case.

Thank you for the correction. Edited to say, thank you @porkpal for the correction (since you pointed it out first).

That is a good wonder, I kind of wondered that myself. Thinking
