Looks like a Graptoveria or Echeveria.

You say you almost killed it, so it's growing back from what was probably the point where it was cut back.

They need open, gritty compost in a sunny position. Does your pot have drainage holes? If not I would take it out of that one and put in a smaller plastic pot which fit into your ceramic one. Root rot is a big cause of loss from overwatering for these plants.

My first thought was a variety of Echeverias (Echeveria) but I'm not all that familiar with those types of succulents. I'll move this over to the Plant ID Forum where it will get more views and perhaps someone will recognize it and be able to give you an exact ID but Sue has given good advice on growing conditions for these types of plants.
