Hey all my plant peeps!

So as I'm sure maybe it was talked about on here while I was Mia , but those few days of cold have done a number on a lot of the plants.

I'm taking over all the plant care at the facility I am working at and all of the spp. of Cycadaceae did not fair so well, I haven't exactly ID them yet but I'm just assuming they are members of Cycas.

Here's what they look like, wanna know what it should do with them, I have been waiting to see if when it warms up they do any growing. And extra are some goodies on the tops of one, any way to tell if those pods are mature? What do you guys think @baja_costero @needrain @mcvansoest

Thanks in advance to anyone who chimes in!

They are still very much alive. New leaves will grow in the spring. All those leaves kept the trunk from freezing. After you prune off the dead leaves, the sagos will have longer trunks - I used to cut all the leaves off mine once in awhile just for the allusion of bigger plants. Hilarious!

sorry, I am not at all into palms, so can be of little to no help. Good luck with the recovery. I suspect that in about a month's time it will be very obvious which are the survivors and which are the casualties.
It is what it is!

Oh no worries! I just remember you were always helpful so I figured I'd tag you in.

And I agree, soon enough I will know. There's a few smaller ones that look like they bit the dust but here's to hoping these bigger ones pull through so I don't have to dig them out lol

Hope you have been well!!

Don't give up on any of them. I've had sagos sit and do nothing for a couple years before they get over their pout and grow. Remember, they only grow leaves once a year so if they miss this year (and unless you have some strong evidence they are dead) I would leave them.

Okay great!! Great to know, I just needed your conformation so I can put out an email at work that they are alive, and that they do not need to come out!; my boss asked me about them last week so I wanted to get an answer for her about what is going on with them.
What about the pods on the top of the one, ever harvest any?

No, never did that.

Those pods are a crazy color. Smiling I think Daisy has given good advice by suggesting you wait and watch.

I've had the one I grew look like that more than once. It always grew new leaves, but as Daisy said, it can be slow about that new growth showing up. This past fall I gave mine to a friend in Austin because my winters made it more a container plant and it was getting large enough I didn't want to keep trying to handle it. I haven't asked yet how it managed the cold. I think they kept in a container for the time being. I'll have to remember to ask them if they brought into some protection or it was subject to the awful cold.
