Dirt,

I barely made it through the night. Winds whipped around the house, coyotes (probably wolves pretending to be coyotes) howled, and things went thump in the night. The evil iris looked even more evil today. I fear my days may be fewer than they would have been had I not planted that iris.

I am behind in posting. I have been doing a huge plant installation at my house, but here is my favorite thus far this year.

Undertow is lovely, but so is that poor dark iris you are so afraid of. I think it has stunning color. And feel rather sorry for it too.

Leslie, I can't believe you are taking the evil iris's side. I have been living through a veritable reign of terror. I decapitate it. It puts up more stalks. I fear to sleep at night. The peonies have all had to go into therapy for PTSD.

Your evil iris is definitely not vivacious vixen. The beard color is all wrong for that.

Et tu Dirt? I feel betrayed. Apart from the evil NOID who continues to trouble my sleep, all is going pretty well although some of the irises are looking as if they have been doing some heavy drinking when I am not around. I head out to the garden every morning and find them listing this way and that. I am definitely going to put my foot down … as soon as I have had a few drinks myself.

The really exciting news here, apart from installing a mini wildflower meadow where my side yard used to be is that TB 'Feodosiya' finally bloomed after a four-year wait. It is quite pretty. I only hope she doesn't take four more years before she blooms again. I wasn't able to get a picture that captured her daintiness. Her flowers flowers are small but I think I prefer that to some of the top heavy divas.

I am behind in posting pictures. I am behind in planting, I am behind in ordering, and I am definitely behind in visiting my favorite local nurseries. So I will post a few irises everyday as my show is probably about 3/4 of the way done.

TB 'Mythology' is always a strong bloomer for me, blooms for a long time, and doesn't fall down.

A mystery iris. Based on its planting location, it was planted last year, but it has no tag. It must be a bonus as it isn't on my spreadsheet. It looks like it might be 'Howler.'
