Bougainvillea
I call this beauty the devil bush. The thorns are wicked and have a substance on them that makes the wound ache long after I've been stuck by one. The flowers are gorgeous, though.
I have found that coffee, tea, and rose can all agree on one thing... water everyday.

The devil is good at putting on beautiful disguises!

Beautiful banner, hlutzow.
re: the thorns...I always wear gloves, but
I've been stuck by roses waaaaay more times.
Bougainvilleas are great plants that bloom profusely (right now).
The only downside is when all the blooms fall, and create a little mess, but worth it, imho.
Vivid and compelling banner. Since I live in a climate zone that doesn't allow bougainvillea to grow outdoors, I've only seen it in conservatories. I wasn't aware it was thorny. I can understand a love/hate relationship between it and anyone who raises it, now.l

Thank you, everyone!
@EscondidoCal The thorns on this bush are about an inch long. Other than really thick canvas or leather gloves, I haven't found anything that can provide even a little protection. I eventually gave up and I just am very careful handling it.
