A large, clean paint brush works very well for "sweeping" up a potting area.

Life & gardens: make them beautiful
Love the paintbrush idea! I find that it's also great for cleaning dirt off surface rocks of all sizes to keep them looking sharp.
You don't kick walls down, you pull the nails out and let them fall.
