Should have asked -- need a Kentucky garden to test grow some rhizomes for you? Green Grin!

wee will see,
this iris was blooming first time, so I have only one rhizome, wee will wait a little bit for more ;)
Actually our Lithuanian climate is not very friendly to irises (quite cold & wet), if they will still grow
& bloom, it's a big probability, that they feel good in Kentucky.

Welcome, Eko! Welcome! It sounds like you have an interesting collection of iris! Do you find most of them "local"( in Europe), or do you import them? I'm mainly into "historis" iris( those older than 30 years), and re-bloomers, but my addiction is getting worse! I can't say "No" to any iris , now!....Arlyn I tip my hat to you.

Polly warned me and now I know she's right.I thought I couldnt grow them here in clay 2 years ago.
It hardly matters now.I really have to hold myself back or risk running out of room.

Hi friends :)
I'm let we say not very young guy (actualy 58)
I'm lithuanian and my english is not very strong.
My job is computers and IT. My hobbies: photography and irises.
Approximately 20 years ago I was interested in guppies fish hybridizing and
my colleague aquariumist Gintaras Klimaitis (her his web page address:

http://irisai.eu/component/opt...

gave me a gift - two irises: "Tall Chief" and "Exotic Star" and there was a beginning .... ;)
Most irises I've got from Gintaras. Four years ago I decided to order some irises from US:
at first I ordered some ones from Itkens, after that - from one grower from Germany,
at least (3 years ago) from very kind and nice man - Paul Black.
That's my story how I became an iris hobbyst. I planting them in my garden.
I occupied ~ 2ares (200m2) to irises. It's my hobby, not business.
That's all in short Smiling

Enjoys or suffers cold winters
Note: The dwarfs take up less room. It is my husband's & my favorite class of iris. We no longer grow it, but 'Tall chief' used to be in our garden.
Note: my husband syas that he thinks there is a plant where it ought to be. Paul Black is a great person.

Ummmmmm Eko? Most of us are older than 58, so 58 sounds very young to us!! Hilarious!

And your English is pretty darn good. Better than *our* Lithuanian!!!!!

I enjoyed your story about how you got started with Irises. Probably pretty similar to most of us!

I was interested to read that you have spent time hybridizing guppies -- so have I!! Many years ago, in another life. I developed my own strain of green fan-tails -- it's been so long, I can't even remember what I called them! But I sold them to pet stores. That was a good memory you brought back to life.

Eco, you have some very nice irises. You will have to continue to share your pictures. How long is your growing season? Welcome to our group!
