I didn't know what an SDB was when i clicked on this thread but then i realized i have an order for 10 of them from Breck's. Think i have 2 or 3 already buy they didn't bloom this year. Can't wait to get them.

Dwarf irises are especially good two years after planting. Wonderful flowering moments await you!

Wow now i really can't wait till next year. I have a small stream in my backyard and have planted a bunch of iris's [mostly Japanese and a few Louisiana]. The pics of the dwarfs are amazing. Grandson built me a bench so i can have my coffee and enjoy them.

The bench is excellent! My pipe dream. So much time is spent weeding and caring for the irises that there is no time to sit and enjoy the blooming fields. Perhaps when we cover all the agrofibre iris beds, this time will appear. And my husband will make me the same bench.

This is why this spring I ordered a reclining lawn chair. Unfortunately it didn't come until the season was almost over. But next spring I'm going to sit and really enjoy the view.

Could you ask your hubby give testimony of you sitting on your lawn chair for more than...
5 minutes, or at least a few times early morning with your coffee mug in your hands?
Something tells me that it won't happen as hoped for. However I greatly support having seats/benches or lawn chairs around...then there's no excuse for not taking a brief rest between various chores ( that inevitably yell at oneself endlessly... )

Arturo, it has already happened toward the end of this year's season - minus coffee, because that would be just one more thing to do, and I couldn't wait to sit down. But next year I will have to keep in mind to pour myself a tall glass of iced tea and put a fuzzy sprig of apple mint into it before sitting down. Just the thing!

Of course I had already accomplished all the weeding and fertilizing before bloom time, so other than picking off yesterday's faded blooms, and photographing the new ones when the lighting was right, it was time to simply enjoy the show. Do I really need Hubby's testimony to that? I offered to order a second chair for Hubby, but he declined. I should have ordered a second anyway.

Valery, it is a reclineable foldable fabric-on-metal-frame chair that I can easily move around and position as the mood strikes me, and according to what is blooming. Not the most aesthetically pleasing thing, but it serves when the mood strikes, and in winter time can be folded up and stored away in the tool shed.

Today we finally have a pleasantly cool but sunny day. It's just the time to get out and divide some overcrowded clumps, preparing a box for my cousin in Colorado who has now a budding interest in irises. A new iris addict in the making. I must encourage him! 😁

perhaps two....one for incumbent irisarian as well...
so the three of you could indulge in an iris watching conversation...far removed from these difficult times...and still feel for a short while that life is a gift fillled with joy that in spite of everything still shines for those that are willing to accept it.

I hope that ordering from Brecks won't be too disappointing. While pretty good with bulbs, their iris sales can be quite disappointing. Many people have complained that many misnamed ones arrive.

Brecks is another one that refers to iris rhizomes as bulbs, which tells me that though they may have nice bulbs, they should hire some people who know the difference between a bulb and a rhizome. For this reason, I will order bulbs from Brecks, but nothing else.

Right on. The bulbus iris I. reticulata would be the only ones which I would consider.
