Does anyone grow Stephanotis in the ground? I have had a very robust pot of it on my patio for the past 2 years and this time of year it sends out long viney branches that grab anything and anybody walking near it. I know I should not mess with something so healthy but I would love to plant it. It blooms but I think it would bloom more if in the ground, I am not sure of what exposure would be best.

I find many plants that say they are indoors do well in my outdoor garden, as long as they're in a spot that is protected from frost.

I have one growing in my garden here in Sarasota. it gets about 3 hours of hot sun and dappled sun/shade for the rest.

it grew quickly and I tied it along the wooden fence .. they like good drainage and mine can get too much water after a very heavy rain and then the leaves wilt and turn yellow and hang there for a long time before it revives

I grew it in the ground in Texas in a dry spot and it did better, with occasional watering when needed

My plant is still in a pot but it is not as robust as it was last year so I think it might be root bound and desperately needs to be planted. Some health issues have kept me from digging but one of these days I will find a good garden helper.

Reportedly hardy for Z9b+ so it should be fine, maybe occasional bit of frostbite, as said.

When I'm going to try to cheat my zone a little bit, I try to get some snips started to bring inside, just in case it doesn't go well for the grounded mama plant. And for a light/slight frost, there's a lot of magic in a sheet, if/when logistically practical.
