I must say that Dandelions are TERRIBLE this year. Sometimes my riding lawn mower doesn't seem to cut all of them down (it just pushes them over.). Anyone else agree or are having the same issues.

I never use chemicals or pesticides either.

When we bought the Fiskars 4-prong Uprooter, (we bought 2 of them so we could work together on it) we decided that we could use it to get the dandelions out of our yard and garden.. So for the past several years, as soon as the dandelions began blooming, we were out there popping them up and shooting them into a Kangaroo bag. The thing is to get them before they set seed. Same for the plantain weed, both narrow leaf and broad. Same for the goosegrass. Anyway, by last year our yard and garden were vastly improved. A few of them that reappeared last year must have had especially long tap roots, so we treated those with Round-Up. You wouldn't believe how much better our yard looks now, compared with our neighbors'. It's hard work, but decent exercise. It can be done without spreading herbicide far and wide.

I did a lot of digging last year and have had few dandelions this year. Unfortunately, a few snuck by me this year and went to seed. Glare

That's true, but an 8' fence between us and the neighbor with the most dandelions does help. Hilarious!

You all would be glad you don't live near me. We're turning the big monoculture grass lawn into goat pasture and cheering on the violets and dandelions.

Not letting any of that near my garden though! 🤣

Hi to all. Just joining this thread because it cheers me on to know there are others who struggle too 😂
I have mostly TBs and had always heard to keep them free of invaders (I wish)...
Here it's much the same ...grasses and red clover..and tons of tiny daisies (erigeron?) and even primroses! That said, I just do my best to let the sun hit the rhizomes as well as I can

Deadheading dandelions before they go to seed also works too. Thumbs up

Welcome! Mary! Beautiful NOID.

Some Tb´s are very hardy and naturalize well. So there´s no surprise that an iris can be spotted in woodland areas.

Ian, dead-heading dandelions before they go to seed prevents formation of a lot of new plants, but it doesn't get rid of the parent plants which sprout from the same tap root year after year.
