I use Johnny's Seeds and Territorial Seeds as sources of information. They are seed vendors, but they both have lots of info.

If you go here, you can find a Cooperative Extension System Office for your county.
As you follow the link down to your county, you also find links to universities in your state with Ag departments that have outreach programs:

I forgot to mention Tom Clothier's site. It's more like an encyclopedia than a forum where people can ask, answer and chat. Lots of info about germination techniques.

http://tomclothier.hort.net/index.html

Here are some random, special interest links I've saved up, many specialized to the PNW or WA state. For your state or region, check my signature block for the link to "NIFA County Coop Extension Finder". Check out some of the local links visible as you drill down to your county Extension office. Some of the side links you see as you drill down may be more useful to you than the final organization you find.

The jocks at some local high school wanted to change the name of some group or team to "The Snohomos", which I thought was really cool and modern of them.

The administration wouldn't let them.

Susan,

Thanks for your co-op link. I bet they link to some places that this link misses:

(I keep this link in my signature block as " ~~ NIFA County Coop Extension Finder ~~ ").
