It has been so warm here the daylilies have not stopped growing and increasing this winter. If we do not get some cold weather soon we will be on rebloom for our Regional meeting the end of May. I have removed what dead foliage there was around the bottom of the plants to apply fertilizer, doing so I discovered I already had a few slugs and snails. Will put out slug bait today. I have already sprayed for spider mites once and will do that for two more weeks. I also got the name plates (103) in the new box. All this warm weather is great for the plants and bugs but keeps us in this area from catching a break year around.

Everything looks lush green and absolutely beautiful -- very impressive! I love the lattice design on all the boxes, and also your matching color scheme with the house.

Wow Fred! Looks amazing!

I took this photo of Bailey in November. My seedling bed is behind her on the other side of the fence. None of this snow has melted, and we have more than twice as much now. In my dreams, my seedlings look just like yours, but they are wearing a white coat! Hilarious!

Another strange year for the weather. We have been below zero at one point but now are up in the 40's and going to be about 50 this week. So worrieds things will start growing and then freeze hard again. Hope for the best i guess. Sure looks great down there though and it should be a banner year for you Fred. Gives you a little more work though with things growing and growing.

Looks great Fred.

You are so right about not catching a break. I was hoping for a little time off before shipping starts, but the way things are going it's not going to happen. I have 75 daylilies to plant tomorrow (we got the club auction plants in), there's 90 feet more of pipe to run for the sprinklers (Kim will dig the trench), the poles still have to be put up for the shade cloth, plus it's time to start weeding (actually past time). Blinking

At least I've already got my 3 sprayings for spider mites done; the snails and slugs have been here all winter so I need to put out slug bait also.

Wouldn't trade it for anything though nodding

PS- I don't think it got above 5 degrees all day today, and the lows were in the negative numbers. At least I have snow covering my daylilies! (Are you shivering yet from reading that? Big Grin

Wow Fred, those plants look as if they haven't slowed down a bit from winter.
Green during the winter months, hard to imagine when I look outside at all the white snow.

I think we have had maby 3-4 nights below 32* this winter, nothing to slow the daylilies or the weeds down. We have had some hard freezes in Feb in the past so its not out of the question that they could look like boiled cabbage before spring.

I had just planted some new arrivals and we got a freeze that we were NOT suppose to have and they looked liked frozen boiled cabbage when I went to the garden the next morning. I love boiled cabbage, but not that kind Hilarious!

Michele, did you cut the "boiled cabbage" back so nice new foliage could grow out?

Yes I actually did because around here with it being freezing one day and them in the 70s the next day that "boiled cabbage" would have started rotting and gone down into the crown and most likely killed the whole thing. I cut the foliage back and sprayed them a few times with Banrot so that wouldn't happen. I learned last year how that mush can be.
If they hadn't just been planted the day before and it wouldn't have rained then dropped down to 24 degrees and would have been established a little it wouldn't have effected them as bad.
