Hi all, just thought I'd share that after seeing the banner photo of 'Belle of Woking' I had to get it! And while I was online at Joy creek nursery www.joycreek.com I bought a couple other plants...now I have to read up and see what I need to know before they arrive!
I'll share photo updates as appropriate! One plant that I'm really excited about is
Clematis tibetana ssp. vernayi var. vernayi 'Orange Peel' which is originally from Tibet and grows 16 feet, and has 1.5 inch yellow blossoms which open to orange. And blooms summer to frost! I'm totally looking forward to this!
Can anyone tell me is it likely that I'll have blooms this first year?
Thanks!

Hi, Greg.

I've found that my clematis plants usually need a season to settle in first and get a good root system established before they'll produce much in the way of blooms. I have really dense clay, however, so that might hinder speedy root growth.

Thanks so much for posting that site! I've been searching for Markham's Pink for several years now, and I see it listed there! Hurray!

Best of luck to you!

Chris, I got 2 Cezanne's because they're shade loving, and look very pretty! Then I bought 'Tsubakuro' a large dark purple flowering one! I have pans for them in several different parts of my yard!!
I can't believe you have 30! wow...so how large is your yard? Big Grin

That is so funny!! I'm hoping to do the same thing!! Although each of mine will have to have signs on them about "leave me alone, please don't prune me" because once a year the building has people come in (without warning me!) and they trim all the trees and bushes, grasses and whatnot...they completely took the young camelia and Hamamelis (witch hazel) down so low that neither are blooming this year - If I was warned I could have been home and protected them! (I'd hate for that to happen with these clematis, they wouldn't recover as quickly I don't think!) So I treat "the" yard as if its "my" yard, but then I get some awful reminders that its not mine! That's too bad. They should really get some knowledgeable people to do work like that. Sad Signs might not be a bad idea!

Especially since these guys weren't cheap!! I didn't buy them on sale, but in reading things on the website, I feel that its worth the money, a small privately owned business is something I like to support!
Can't wait to see what they look like and how they do! I just feel that they're going to love my yard, I amended all the soil last year so its very healthy looking!! Big Grin
