Cheryl how much were they by you? Where I am they are $14.98 other then the Fusion Blue and Purple which are much more expensive , but still much cheaper then a garden center.

Fusion Blue and Purple--- are these the 'moth orchids'? Phalanopsis. They are white flowers that have been dyed!

Melissa, I didn't know that. I've never had one, but thought their color was odd looking.
Just looked it up, thank you for the heads up. When they re-bloom the color is gone.

Yep, those blue and purple Phal's are injected with something to make the first bloom that color. Consecutive blooms will be white!

Yea, saw those a while back, you can see where they inject the dye in the stem. On a positive note, my own orchid that I bought 3 years ago is actually finally going to bloom!!

Anyone's HD's starting to carry plants yet? Mine won't for another month & half at least... Grumbling

Yes the Fusion ones are dyed . Around here fruit trees will come in before the end of the month and evergreens will start coming in at the start of March.

*sigh* Nothing will be coming in here until at least middle to late March. Last year, we didn't really start getting anything of interest in until almost Mother's Day. I hate waiting, especially when the weather's good! But I've found out, by talking to various store managers, that each Garden manager has the ability to order when they want to, so now I know what store will have stuff earlier than other stores. The stores near me are conservative in their ordering while stores in the downtown area are more .. adventurous? in ordering & order early. Fine by me.. I'll drive to those stores!

Great information to have Toni. Hmmm, have to do some research on the two we have in Salem. Never even thought about it in these terms.

The difference also has to do with the growers different stores use. They pretty much decide what plants the stores get , for example the Home Depot west of me has the same shrub grower but the flowers come from a different grower. And north of me they have different growers for both shrubs and flowers.

The HD here has stuff year round, obviously, being in the tropics. But it's-- buyer beware! They stock things that do not grow here, such a lychee trees, that need a certain amount of chilling that we don't have. Oh, and they had blackberries a while back. Need a refridgerated greenhouse!!
