My hosta has this puckered looking bubbles on them. I am wondering if it could be due to the very late cold/ice we had in April (SW Missouri, zone 6). They were already starting to leaf out a little and I wonder if that caused it or if I have something else going on. I don't see any pests of any sort causing this. It's just one this one variety, not my others. Some of the others suffered damage but they were leafed out farther along and just turned to mush.

It is most likely due to the weather conditions. A lot of us are seeing similar things this year and many people are posting on FB groups. However, there are some viruses that could cause similar looks; so you would be wise to keep an eye on the newer leaves and ensure that they all look OK.

I trust that you are already vigilant about sanitizing your tools between plants? If not, develop such a habit and if a virus does show up in your garden you'll have the peace of mind of knowing that you are unlikely to have spread it.
