So, we took these lovely photos after scaling steep, slippery areas along a lake in Michaux State Forest in Pennsylvania. While it was thrilling to see these wild orchids, it was sad to see thousands of Japanese Barberry bushes overtaking huge sections of the natural habitat. I appeal to anyone reading this to consider uprooting invasive non-native plants on your property. Birds scatter the seeds so that eventually we may not have these kind of natural beauties around in the future. Thank You!
"My work is loving the world. Here the sunflowers, there the hummingbird — equal seekers of sweetness. Here the clam deep in the speckled sand. Are my boots old? Is my coat torn? Am I no longer young, and still not half-perfect? Let me keep my mind on what matters, which is my work which is mostly standing still and learning to be astonished." — Mary Oliver, from Messenger
