Moving things out of the greenhouse and saw this poking out from under the shelf. Leaves are about 2" to 2 1/2" at widest point. The leaf edges have razor sharp thorny (?)edges. Looks like the nutans, only much larger.
I'll add it to the data base if it can be IDd.

It may be billbergia x windii (Angel's Tears), or if it has pronounced silver striping on the underside of the leaves, perhaps billbergia vittata.

Billbergia x windii was my first thought, there's several crosses but this looks like the one which has been around for some time.

That last photo of Todd Clayton's is "spot on." It looks exactly like mine. I haven't opened the big hoop house, but I bet there's a whole large pot of those blooms in there. I believe this was a piece of the larger plant that was knocked off in putting things away for winter.

You know, that's funny......I have a close friend who likes all of the odd stuff that I do and for years it had to be "anything variegated" and I just couldn't see it...now it's crept up on me, I suddenly became nuts for everything variegated. I have variegated things, I just hadn't realized that I was getting more and more.

The oaks in my back yard have gradually shaded most of the garden. I find the variegated stuff looks good in the partial shade, even in sunlight.

Yeah, it seems to me that the colors are stronger in part shade, or it could be that the things I have that are variegated happen to be plants that like part shade anyway. In Austin, you need that shade!...lol..

I have about five or six Abutilons, one of which is variegated. It struggles in the 100+° summers here. It's almost easier to replace them in spring. I keep mine in pots, so far. That's going to change this year. Too hard to keep pots watered in the summer. BTW, that nursery in the blog, Barton Sprgs., is one of my "haunts." It's about 2 miles from here. If I find a tiny v. Abutilon this spring, I'll let you know!
