I don't have many but I do have Thornbird! It is quite unique. I know some don't like it but I do.
I added Mesmerizer and I have California Dreamin, Awesome Alex may qualify.

I can't speak to long term vigor, but these bloomed in their first year and are growing well:

Godsend is a favorite, but gone from my garden. If is a definite replace for me.

I have quite a few favorite space agers, but a newer one that blooms every year for me and has good substance is Pearls For Girls.


Tasco's Solar Fire is also a great grower.

Mesmerizer reliably blooms early and for a long time.

Don't care for Space Agers much, but I do have two that I love:

Stars and Stripes Forever. This one struggles in my yard's heavy clay, but I'll keep it around.

Perhaps one of the iris experts on this forum can weigh in. 'Chalice' a 1924 historic iris is not listed as as space age iris. The name didn't exist then. But to me, it looks like a space age iris or a least a precursor. Comments anyone?

Love this one.

Chalice wouldn't be considered a space ager because those are the style arms that are curved outward not an additional appendage, such as a horn, spoon or flounce at the end of the beard. Several historic iris do that. Minnesota Mixed Up Kid often has that on at least some of its blooms for me. There are some historics that had appendages in spades. Check out Super Freak in the database (on my phone I can't copy over database pics.).

I got it from Winterberry. Not sure if it's on their website, but they have lots and lots that aren't on their website. Worth dropping them a note whenever you are looking for something and can't find it in anyone's catalog.

I'll give Thornbird another vote. One of the first TBs I ever bought and it grows and blooms well. Mesmerizer and Solar Fire are great too.
