I have about 10 large epis that are potted on cheapo plastic hanging pots you can buy in the big box stores. The other day one of the hangers broke off and the whole pot fell on the deck and shattered. It got me to thinking...what other possibilities are there for hanging these plants? What kinds of pots do other people use for these sometimes huge and gangly plants?
The plants are moved into the house during the winter.
Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi Cody,
I use wire baskets and put plastic pots inside them.
That way you can hang one on top of the other and wire baskets hardly ever break.
Plastic pots are a preferred way of growing Epis but they do break.

wow...that's a good idea Hillsepicacti! I'm assuming you mean the wire baskets that are usually filled with the moss lining?
I like the idea especially because it would definitely save some space!

If you grow them in the wire baskets with coco liners directly, they will grow through the liner/wire and be very hard to get out. Ask me how I know Sighing!

Hi, I found in my stash a slightly taller shape that had some holes in the rim, and is very sturdy, and so I added string to make it hang. Might see it here. It is not filled all the way with dirt, I wanted the pot to help collect the long stems.

I took that pic intending to ask about pruning so I'm Not sure the pot shows well. And here is the bloom by the way

Plant it and they will come.
