Past tense, it was hard to move from that property. Especially to a tiny postage stamp lot. But I live at a great place now

Lovely rock garden,i am so glad i noticed this thread.I am trying to put a rock garden together. It's not an easy task to have an idea in your head & then put it on the ground.I have decided the end product is going to be a surprise. The only thing I want to make sure i have is mounding of some plants,i planted upright Sedum in a way that they will be a mound of different colors with tallest varieties in back.I am planting semps in front and kind of around Upright Sedum.

I was having a hard time with deciding on a border around it.The shape keeps changing, looking at it this morning i thought about using semp's as a border?? Confused

If anyone else has a rock garden or just a succulent or drought tolerant bed, share with us.Post some more pictures Lovey dubby

Jennifer,in your after picture, what are the plants with the pink & either light pink or white flowers, they are growing wonderfully down the rocks and even down the timber,it's next to the house on my right side of the picture.

thank you for sharing your pictures !!!

That is creeping phlox. Too bad it only blooms in the spring. But it is one of my favorites

Jojoe I like golden creeping jenny its easy and will do fine in sun or shade. This is the type of plant that if a stem breaks off, you put it in moist soil and it'll be rooted in no time! So, you can spread these around from a small amount of plants.
Creeping thyme is nice for its fuzzy leaves.
Another easy one to grow is Lithodora (there are several colors of flowers and they tend to have a long bloom time)
All of these are very easy to grow in Seattle, so I'm guessing they'll do well there too!
I can't remember if your bed is in full sun or part shade?
I'm thinking with your summer heat, these may get burnt if in full sun...so planting them on the shady side of rocks, or under taller plants may be good to provide some shade. As usual please take photos when you have some plants planted!!
I tip my hat to you. Hurray!

Greg are you trying to frighten poor Jojoe by suggesting creeping Jenny? I wish I could tell you how many hours I spent trying to get rid of it!!! It's like ivy once it gets a foothold! You'd think I'd learn but now I have Kenilworth Ivy, which looks frail and delicate, taking over! Where my roundup!

Okay Patty (nice to post with you), you just can't start a post like that and then not tell me about another plant that will grow the same way that i liked to start with,in the same environment. Blinking Rolling on the floor laughing

I'm sure Greg was planning on sending me very good instructions on how to keep it under control, huh Greg???
It's great to start your day off with a laugh,it puts a smile on your face for the rest of the day!! Group hug

ok, now the pressure's on! Thanks Jojoe... this isn't exactly how I wanted to start my morning! I LOVE Cape Blancho (Sedum spathulifolium), the pale greenish plant on the right on the pic I will add. It can spread, but it's pretty easy to control. The purple plant on the left is miniature or dwarf snap dragon (Chaenorhinum origanifolium) which I also LOVE. It has knockout color! It does reseed but I like the natural look of it scattered in my iris/semp bed. And I don't think it will be hard to pull up (haven't tried it yet). There are also a lot of small Campanula's that are nice. Lynn probably has other suggestions...
