I have quite a few of these lovely plants that have done well for me for years now. However, the one below is a mess...scraggly, spotted, and misshapen. Two feet away is one that looks like most of the ones I grow. What gives with this homely plant?

Do you have Black vine weevils in your area? They eat the roots. Also might be time for dividing , not all but many need it about every 3 years.

Hi NJBob...haven't heard of the vine weevils, and this plant is only a year old so not really big enough to divide. I am thinking of just cutting the whole thing back and seeing what happens!

Have you given the plant a gentle tug? If it has evils it will come up easy. Sometimes you get gifted with those things when you buy a plant. Bought a sedum from Lowe's once with those nasty things.
