@BradKY, Purple Many Faces has wonderful candelabra branching and a robust rebloom, so you get it twice as nice. New scapes are starting as round one is finishing, if I remember correctly. Always good for the extension of the bloom season.

Thanks, for the extra info. I have so many I cannot keep with everything.

This year I have been making crosses mainly with Blackberry Lime Kiss and Stenciled Infusion on most.

Also some smalls like Pixie Dragon and Halloween Green. ? What do you bring your pods in? Do you pick them while still a bit green? I have seen some put them in muffin tins. After they are dry I have been using white envelops. Any suggestions? Thanks

This is my entire seed collecting, storage, and planting routine.
I cut little strips of paper, using what looks like miniature legal pad notebook paper. I fold it in half length wise, three or four sheets at a time, cut it down the middle and then cut the strips four lines wide. I fold each strip in half and put in in an ice cube tray that has 16 compartments. I have taped a clear plastic ruler 12" (just the length of the ice cube tray) over one half of the tray. That provides me a small writing surface. I keep a pair of reverse tweezers and a pen in the tray and that lid holds those in place also. The other half of the tray is open.
I use small plastic condiment cups like you get as restaurants or small ice cream or yogurt cups after I have collected the pods to transfer the actual seeds from the pods along with the bead (or string paper label for those that use them) into the little cup.
After the seeds have dried for a day I use 2" by 3" zip lock baggies I buy from Hobby Lobby or Walmart and transfer the seeds to them and I use a magic marker to put the date, the cross and the number of seeds on the baggie.
After I dump the seeds from the little cups into the zip lock baggie I spray just a quick short squirt of water (a drop or two) into the baggie (no cotton, no paper included). I have found I get less mold that way. Then I have little plastic trays I bought at the dollar store, the little baggies are put in the tray and the tray is placed in the refrigerator for about four weeks. That is the importance of the date being written on each packet.
After the four weeks the seeds are taken out of the refrigerator and planted in red plastic cups (the cheap ones from the discount grocery store). They grow there for hopefully only a few weeks (4-8 depending on how fast they grow) then they are planted out in the seedling beds. I think the paper envelopes my be better for the seeds in storage, but I find the zip lock baggies more convenient.
This is my seed collecting, and storing kit. The green bottle is the water spray bottle.

Fantastic! Thanks for that. I have read somewhere that seeds from evergreen daylilies might not require the cold stratification (I am presuming that would be specific to crosses of evergreen x evergreen). I do wonder if that is one way you can tell your seedling will be an evergreen, if it germinates right away without stratifying? The ones from the same cross that do not germinate, perhaps require cold stratification, and may then be semi-evergreen or dormants? I wonder if anyone has ever tested that. Would be a cool screening tool for people who want only dormants or only evergreens. But, I guess I would have heard about it by now if people really did do this. I presume evergreen seeds will germinate in either case, however.

No, from what I have read evergreens can also require stratification. I stratify
Nearly all my seeds just so they will sprout at a more uniform time. All that will be determined by the seeds sprouting quickly after planting is they did not require stratifying.

This is an exciting time for daylily people. Blooms are winding down but I love collecting those little black seed s. So much to look forward to. Hurray!

I am interested in crossing for sculpted throats and maybe polys. Any suggestions on those?
