We only lost power for 3 days during Alicia, but my girlfriend on Winnie, with two small boys, closer to where you were, also lost it for much longer. She came to my house to do her laundry for a few weeks. We pulled a mattress out onto our 2nd story balcony (Rosenberg got nice sea breezes) to sleep those 3 days. Covered ourselves in OFF! bug repellent. But we were glad to have that balcony, for sure! We only lost one window in our foyer downstairs and not much damage resulted as it was on the driveway side of the house and our neighbor's house was so close on that side it knocked wind and rain from entering too badly. People just a block away got tornado damage.

Alicia was scary for sure, waiting to have the power rebuilt from the mainland was awful. My boyfriend (now husband of almost 30 years) was a medical student who lived at the Theta Kappa Psi house. Their ramshackle house survived with no damage. We hung there for a few weeks before I was able to go home.
