I've been wanting to order one of these DrillTills for a couple years. Weeding and planting bulbs and ground cover over large areas is just getting to be too much for this old back and previously broken femur heads (below knees). After doing so in two large beds recently (just about killed me), I finally did it today. I went to the DrillTill website this morning and the $30 tool is on sale right now for $19.95. Don't know for how long they are offering it at this price though. Just ordered myself one. If it performs as advertised (it should, with all metal parts) I plan to order another one for my rural cabin property an hour away for all my gardening needs down there. Just thought I'd share.

Well, I got my DrillTill this week. Tried to dig a hole (as advertised) to plant two cannas and it would not penetrate more than 1/4" in our hard, dry, clay-ridden, limestone rock-filled soil in Central TX. The drill I used was fully charged (cordless battery drill) but it was still a no go to dig a 3-4" hole to plant the rhizomes, so I just switched to a shovel.

I haven't tried the other two attachments yet, but am doubtful the tilling tool or weed remover would penetrate any deeper into our very hard Blackland Prairie soil. Sigh....another tool let down. I do, however, think it will be VERY useful down at our cabin place to plant, till and dig holes in my new raised garden beds and in the yard as we have very sandy soil down there. It will help a bit with my back disc disease issues.
In my case, then, it's not a total waste of $19.95........but if you have very hard, dry, compacted soil, this is probably not the tool for the job. I will use our electric drill with it one time to see if more power will make a difference, but am not optimistic on that score. Usually only a long spade or sharp-shooter shovel will penetrate the hard soil where I live, so in the city, that's what I'll be sticking to.
