Oxalis finds a way!

Nature finds a way to give beauty to any random spot. Here pink oxalis is taking over a curb at the intersection near my house.

Thanks all and so sorry for a late response. Work had been keeping me way too busy and stressed. I love the oxalis because it covers what would otherwise be just another concrete curb. Beauty from nature in unexpected spots is a joy.

I've been working a lot, too, so haven't checked in recently. I have a pink oxalis that looks very similar. It has spread to fill in gaps around rocks and looks so pretty in spring. The plants disappear with the heat of summer, but often return in fall with a little bit of bloom. I'm a bit concerned about how easily the tiny bulbs multiply and spread. Best for a contained area, I think.
A lovely banner, however!! Smiling

Laurie, yes they do spread easily. These have pretty much stayed in the area close to the curb for a few years though. There is liriape behind them so it might be containing the spread.

Oxalis is one of those bulbs that seem to prefer to determine its' own fate. I can't tell you how many bulbs I've tried to relocate from mowed areas to cultivated spots, and they have not done well.

To mock me, the weedy O. stricta plants try to take over where they are not welcome, but I rarely see much of those in mowed areas.
