Decided to try my hand and propagating a mango seed. They get so large I'm sure I'll never plant it out anywhere, except maybe somewhere on our 40 acre rural property in Central TX. Even there, with room to grow/spread, it won't survive the freezes Central TX gets from time to time. Mostly I'm doing this propagation to watch it grow......like an experiment. Here's my seed a the 1 wewek mark in moist papertowels on a saucer on my kitchen window ledge in bright light. The root is 1" long and the first leaves are pushing through the seed seam opening (barely visible at the left):

Will be planting it in a pot of soil tomorrow I think. Then the experiment really begins.

And 10 days later it has pushed out its first leaf pair and put on several more!

November 2021 11 wks old. A bit taller, more space between petioles, darker maturing leaves.
