I've had this plant in my garden since last year. Its putting out plenty of new growth right now. I planted several meadow flower seeds and I can't remember this one.

The foiage looks like dalea purpurea which is a wildflower, It's hard to tell for sure without a bloom.

Thanks Sue. I really hope it is dalea purpurea. I don't think it even bloomed last year

Hi Josephine. It may be a volunteer. I planted a packet of meadow flowers mix so I'm not sure if its one of the meadow flowers or a volunteer plant. I went outside and the stem looks a little woody, Its kept its leaves all winter which is why I just now noticed it lol. I tried to take a better picture but its cloudy outside and its starting to rain. I'm hoping its not a weed either.

I am sorry but nothing comes to mind right now, it does look promising, let us wait and see what develops later. Smiling

I can't say what it is, it looks like an aster of some sort but it could be quite a few other things as well. Hard to tell without the flowers.

It's not Dalea purpurea, though. Dalea purpurea has pinnately compound leaves and this plant's leaves appear to be simple.
