I purchased a red delicious apple tree from Walmart several years back, and have had rust on the leaves from day one. I haven't really addressed the issue but have had more time on my hands to tend to my garden, and want to nip this in the bud. I was just curious how in the world do you contend with this? I have done some googling, and most of what I have found is basically to destroy the tree. Not something I really want to do. So my question is: Can I save my apple tree?? I also am wondering about the fruit. I have had some pretty nice looking apples growing, they haven't turned red yet. Are these fruits edible with all the rust that is present?

Use Spectracide Immunox since it's the only easily available myclobutanil fungicide I can think of that's authorized for use on fruit trees.
As always follow directions when applying.

If you have any cedar tree near your apple trees consider cutting them down: Cedar-apple Rust has a very complex life cycle and requires cedar trees to thrive.
