I hesitated to order Lasting Beauty as there are no other pics of it that I could find and the ones posted on their website were fairly bland, especially compared to Sunset Glow. Carol posted a pic of Theresa Anne last night on FB, I asked if she had any good ones of LB and she posted these this morning! I did ask her for permission to share them via messenger, in case anyone is concerned, and she just gave permission.

Just tried to go back to peonyparadise.com and it won't load, assume the sale is done. Peony buying season for 2021 roots is pretty much over, bring on the new ones to order for 2022!

The website is still active. The picture of LB are gorgeous! The one with the whole bush is similar to one on the website.

Still wouldn't let me in to the site directly, had to do a search and go in through the results. Looks like they're down to 5 herbaceous, 4 Itohs and 2 tree peonies. Practically sold out!

anyagoro said:Liz, at the APS convention in 2018 both were in bloom in the Adelman garden. SY has more petals, small ones close to the center. I agree both are gorgeous. Karen pick one and you won't be disappointed. This is the my SH last summer.

Lovey dubby Lovey dubby This is exactly what I am looking for.

Thanks Liz, Lg, and Anya! I really appreciate your feedback. I am glad to hear that it is vigorous in your garden, LG. I found that SY blooms in photos look very similar to Duchess De Lorraine so that was why I selected SH. SH looks great in a bouquet!

I'm sorry I missed them at Adelman's in 2018, don't remember seeing them at all! Could've spent all day there, wish we'd had more time!

Here is Cheryl Ann from my Adelmans Black Friday sale. It was the only one I bought.

It is 49° here and it's going into the ground.

So this fall I just piled up the plastic bags from vendors and finally got around to cleaning it up today. I tend to broadcast the saw-dust or whatever that stuff is that they use for root packing material into a flower bed or two.

Anyhow, one bag had a little root with an eye fall out - and it it also had a larger lively looking root and two smaller ones that were trying to grow, with one having a little bump that might be an eye. They all came from an Etched Salmon, so it was a good catch :). Later on, I found a nice piece of crown from a Hillary (itoh) which I decided to bag-up and gamble on.

2021 bonus roots... Made for a fun lunch hour.

So I put my blind roots in bags with damp peat moss and have them in my home.

I saw a post about doing it this way on Facebook. After the root pieces developed white roots, they planted them in the ground and were successful.

In the past I have just stuck the roots in the ground when I found them in the bottom of a packing bag. I haven't had much luck with those.

I think that having very gentle conditions is helpful. For instance, I bagged these in potting soil and put them into the garage. So I am helping the small, tender roots with a light/loose medium into which they can easily grow and I am controlling the temps that they are exposed to.
