Hi plant friends,
I have just received some of my wishlist plants from Ecuador. I'm based in the UK. I got anthurium regale and crystallinum, and a philodendron gloriosum and plowmanii
I received the plants much earlier than I expected so have been a bit rushed! As this is my first time importing, can some of you experienced plant collectors provide some feedback on my rehab setup?
1. Soaking in water with a drop of silver bullet (not sure you have something similar in the USA, it helps treat/prevent root issues)
2. Remove from water after ~1hr. Most UK "rarer" plant collectors say to leave for 24hrs. What are your thoughts on that? It sounds like way too long!
3. Plant back into moist spagnum moss. Rehab in a tent with 70%+ humidity, a fan for air circulation, and a heat mat nearby to keep the temperature around 22-25c. I have the same conditions in my plant cabinet, where these will eventually live. Low light for the next few days then increase to bright indirect?
Plants arrived in spagnum, roots were dry but not dessicated or rotten. I'm so happy with the condition - the regale in particular has a massive root system. There is what looks like a fungal issue on one of the gloriosum leaves - I can't find a copper fungicide spray. Will a mix of bicarb/dish soap/water help, or is that just facebook nonsense? ;)
Apologies for the long post!
