I have many hybrid seedlings of James Macfarlane and - - wherever the bees have been, sometimes to syringa Kum Bum one side of it (gold leaved seedlings often) and sometimes it's a mystery. I may have an intergeneric plant - James Macf and chionanthus virginicus growing the other side. Has anyone any evidence of this cross? The 9 yr 'hybrid' has never bloomed, is a very tidy/shapely/healthy shrub to about 7 feet.

No pruning done, everything around it blooms/is healthy. Big mystery.
