Hi everyone!
This is my first post on this forum - I'm pretty new to houseplants and recently have caught a serious case of aroid fever (a phrase I learned from a post from @Gina1960) so after lurking all the amazing details and historical info here (thank you all for sharing), I wanted to share my budding collection with other plant enthusiasts. Here's a photo of my little collection. I'm also currently waiting for a little 'Pink Dragon' x 'Ivory Coast' from Etsy to arrive in the mail, which I'm very excited about.

I live in San Francisco, CA and I've been jealously eyeing all the Florida nursery supplies, and thinking about when / how to acquire the next alocasias on my wishlist (green shield, silver dragon, infernalis).

I'd love to see other people's alocasia updates or just hear tips for growing the jewels.
- Should I get into terrariums before I go down the infernalis route?
- Should I wait for spring to acquire new babies?
- Do alocasias like to be put outside once a season? I've seen this advised for monsteras and I know alocasias can be grown outside in more tropical zones but SF is pretty dry (and currently there's wildfire smoke). If so, in which season should I do this?

Thanks for reading!

Lovely collection, welcome! I would keep over the plants you have and see how they react before you buy new ones over the winter. Some alocasia can tend to go dormant. Its not necessary to have a terrarium to grow jewels but many people do like the look. My Infernalis outgrew my terrarium and now lives out in my greenhouse. ALocasias do appreciate being outdoors but if your air quality is not good I would wait until it improves. Temps about 55-60 at night and in the 70-75+ range in day are very good
