Good evening from Norway.

Gina1960, you have learned me so much, I will forever remember you. THANK YOU.

I bought this as an philodendron Plowmanii, but it does'nt look like Plowmanii to me. I saw a picture of two plowmanii, with different leaves shapes and so on. Can that be the case. This is a rounder form of plowmanii. Or is this a tissue culture hybrid fast made thing. Oh how I wonder. I hope someone knowes something that will make me ease my mind. (sounded dramatic, I'm sorry:))

The only other possibility I can think of that this could be would be Philodendron mamei cv Silver Cloud. It does bear a resemblance to plowmanii.

Things to look for that might suggest Silver Cloud....
the petiole has white striations
The ruffled edges of the petiole end about halfway down then its smooth
The leaf is cordite (heart shaped) and has a very quilted appearance
The secondary and tertiary veins are sunken toward the margins of the leaf
The silver variegation is highly variable

I wish I could be sure about that. Thank you for your reply.

Yes, I have been thinking about Silver cloud. Which is a hybrid right? I also have philodendron Mamei both climbing and crawling. I will add few better pictures of my so called plowmanii. And their lobes (if that's how the word is written) are not close together but apart as of a Mamei.

I collected these plants back in the early times LOL early 2000's. Back then there was only one form of each commonly available, like there was only one form of P. verrucosum. My plants do not necessarily look like the ones being sold as the same thing now. A well known hybridizer from SO FL commented once recently that the older versions looked different from many of the newer ones (especially plants like A. clarinervium, A. crystallinum, A. magnificum and some these Philodendrons) because they were not 'watered down'. Many of these plants have been hybridized, either on purpose or accidentally, and many plants are sold as one (pure) thing when they are not.

These are my P. plowmanii and P. mamei from the earlier period.

Sorry. I didn't write anything.

Yes this might be an neverending typical hybrid confusion story. It is so amusing when you tell about years ago with your plant and people. I am born in 1980. Not that that is of interest to any one here, haha.

Anyways, I am tired of this plant. This is not a plowmanii as I thought I bought. Yes hybrid 2021 is a fact. Beautiful Mamei and Plowmanii from your early period, Gina.

I give up this plowmanii thing. In Norway they cost 500 euro or dollar. Not this little one. And when shops sell them it is also hybrid plants. Or no washed plants like your friend called it.
