It was 93 here yesterday. I don't know what that means for our spring, but it does not officially start until tomorrow so...

We are presently in the Detroit airport. Will be good to get home, but we will miss the nice weather we had in Africa. LOL

Yes, must look at the pix and decide what to keep, what to print, and what to "delete". I deleted some after I took them..........blurs, too far away even for the telephoto, etc.

Wind! It has been very windy here for weeks, it seems. I need to be spraying the pastures for weeds or burning the fallen dead trees before the county institutes another burn ban, but the wind won't calm down.

And while I'm complaining: Don't buy Rubbermaid! When the stock tanks dried up in the drought of 2011, I bought several big water troughs. I have always had galvanized ones, but they rust eventually and get pin hole leaks. So I decided to try the sturdy-looking plastic ones. Mistake! The Rubbermaid troughs split just from the weight of the water and it is much harder to patch the big tears than those little pin holes.

We have a couple of those Rubbermaid tanks........we really liked them.

Here are a couple of African bovine pix for you. The Cape Buffalo is seeming to say "Can't beat a good cud and a place to lay down".

The sun was just coming up when the wildebeests were making a morning trek........early morning sun through the dust they were kicking up was a winner. Well, in MY book, anyway.

Yesterday winter came back to slap us in the face again, hopefully for the last time this year. Our temperature was only 21 this morning at daylight, with snow on the ground and a pretty good wind. Brrrr! The roofs are dripping now with the sun on them, without having any effect on the snow on the ground as far as I can see.

Oh, yeah, we were welcomed home by 20 degree weather. Yuck. Last year at this time I had already mowed the yard. Ain't gonna happen in March this year.

Anna that is a great picture of the wildebeests! - And just how close to that cape buffalo were you? Perhaps you could start an Africa thread with lots of pictures - please.

Oh, 20-25 feet, maybe. Of course, a good zoom lens does great for that too, you know, but mine is only a 70-300. Wish I had a 500 zoom. When I saw this tree, I was suddenly hit with a "Kodak Moment". I like it, at least.

Love the pictures, Anna. Please do start a thread so people who DON"T show up on the journal thread can see them, too. Maybe we can find a way to get more people coming to the farm forum.

We've had another two feet of snow in honor of the first week of spring. Some town in Ohio is bringing felony charges against Punxatawny Phil for damage to the well being of its citizens in anticipation of the early spring promised. Okey Dokey then.

Stan got the tractor split, but the parts won't be in until next week. He did chores by himself one night this past week. I wasn't too happy about it, but I think he needed to prove to himself that he could. His sons-in-law were quite mad at him for not letting anyone know. Let's put it this way, I don't think is was as much fun as he thought it might be, but he did it and we've crossed that bridge.

I don't seem to find any place that is appropriate.

Oh yes! And then, next year, Anna will have to go back to Africa to learn how the farmers there do things, etc. She might have to have another career as a farm photo journalist....
