I am not going to be here for a long time. This is not because of anyone but I feel I have been unhelpful and I need a break.

G2493 (wish I had a shorter name for you), you are one of the best identifiers to come along in quite awhile. I really hope you don't leave.

Just noticed you changed your message to "Goodbye, for real. Hopefully you are satisfied". Satisfied by what? I'm never happy (or satisfied) when good people leave NGA.

This time, I am going to be firm regarding my decision. I have decided that this is not really the place for me. I misidentify things quite often and I don't want anyone to be misled or anyone to get mad at me. I will still use this site, say, if I want to maybe look up a variety of something, but I am not going to be active anymore. I am not mad at anyone by the way. Have a great day. Smiling

Please don't go. I've guessed wrong with ID's more than a few times but then I treat it like a learning experience.

Gardener, I hope you don't go away. Your experiences and opinions are as valuable as anyone else's. If people were expected to leave after a wrong ID or, as everyone thinks I did earlier in this discussion, suggest something is a pest when it's a fungus or mold, I would have had to leave a long time ago, and I don't think there would be anybody else left either. Nobody is always correct about these things. It's OK to be wrong, nobody's perfect. You get a chance to learn too when that happens. I've learned a lot of things that way.

I'm glad everyone thinks I'm wrong about the pic showing a possible pest. I'm sure Leftlion also appreciates having so many other people say they disagree with the pest suggestion. The discussion is probably stronger than if nobody had said anything about possible pests because it wasn't left unsaid, it was discussed and rejected. I don't enjoy being wrong, but I do appreciate being disabused of any apparently fanciful notions or incorrect interpretations that have wound up trying to reside in my memory.

This has developed into an uncomfortable discussion of different opinions.
Getting back to the original pics I immediately thought Root mealy bug. but I could be wrong!
Sounds like it needs repotting .When out of the pot you will have a better idea.

In-print conversations can be really difficult for some people - can't see and read facial expressions, no hand gestures. It's amazing that we understand each other as well as we do considering the limitations. Then there's texting. Finally! something for thumbs to do. Anyhoo, I was really enjoying the conversation - ya never know when your own garden will get sticky looking white stuff on its roots..
Can't complain too loud about how the ball bounces when I'm the one who dropped it.
