Lovely late summer banner, and great blooms. As cut flowers, they do tremendously well too.

Leslie,
Just lovely, these Alstroemerias grow spontaneously here and are a much awaited mid summer bloom. I wonder why this cultivar is called the third harmonic. First harmonic, the fundamental, second the octave then the third harmonic the fifth....wonder wonder.

I second that observation, and staying in a musical vein, I'll add that these blooms add a lyrical touch to any garden or bouquet.

Beautiful banner, Leslie! When I first learned about alstroemerias, someone told me a trick for remembering the name: sounds like "I'll still marry ya!" Hilarious!

As a follow up to all of this: Third Harmonic is still putting up new stalks and blooms in the middle of December! The few freezes we have had have not stopped it's growth. This is the first year it hasn't died back and so I am wondering if I should just mulch and leave the stalks be or if I should go ahead and cut them back.
