I found these guys this morning on my Confederate rose. There are a number of them on one leaf at a time. They skeletonize it and move on to another leaf.

I am curious if they are a good cat or not before they ruin the plant.

Any thoughts? Confused

I suspect you are correct. And I am glad to know I need to be cautious around them. Apparently their sting is wicked. Now I need to find out what type of moth they develop into. Thank you for the direction! Thank You!

And they become this beautiful moth! https://entnemdept.ufl.edu/cre...

Apparently even the moth has a painful sting. How interesting. Thank you, Tofi!

Ah, I love most of all moth and butterflies, but any caterpillar with those bristles gives me itchy feeling just by seeing one... Sad Smiling Smiling

I do agree but was surprised to hear that moth can sting. I had never realized that they could or would.
I am now very cautious while around that particular plant. Thanks much!
