Thread OP

Hello,

I am having an issue with my forgetii and regale leaves. I've noticed recently some little spots/holes on both sides of the leaves. I am wondering if it has anything to do with pests or roots, or water that I am using.
I keep them in a glass cabinet with humidity around 75 - 85 %, also using filtered water.

Can anyone help me with identifying the problem?
Thank you!

It looks like tissue burn. When plants are exposed to light from a very close source like a grow light, if droplets of water are left on the leaves sometimes the light will 'cook' the water, and hence, the plant. Are you using lights, or is there light shining through glass onto the leaves?

Hello, thanks for your reply
Yes, I have 2 led lights, one on top of the cabinet and one hanging a little bit lower. There is also natural light but not as much anymore as days are becoming shorter here in the UK, it's quite dark most of the times.
I've removed the lower light and I will see if there is any improvement. I feel relieved as I was really worried it might be something more serious Smiling
Thank you for your help

If it was a pest like scale, you would see the bug itself, not just the damage. Although the punctate tiny hard shelled black scale that we here often refer to as Palm Scale (there are many MANY types of scale, both hard shell and soft shell, its hard to know them all so we have nicknames even if they are not really correct) will leave a hole like that after they are killed and removed mechanically. But if you had scale you would see the bug.

I have 6 terrariums, and have problems in a couple with chlorosis on upper leaves of some plants due to them getting just too much of a grow light that is too close. All my big plants grow out in a large greenhouse in all natural light.

I know what you mean by it getting darker. It takes longer to reach us here in Florida but the days are definitely getting shorter. We call it the Slow Season instead of the Grow Season. I fertilizer with long acting time release this week for the last time until Spring, which here is about March 1. I hate it when everything slows down, but, its part of the natural cycle.
