I've been gardening for a while and finally have a greenhouse, so looking forward to reading all the threads and getting tips. I live in a mobile home park in Moscow ID, so finding a spot and putting in a greenhouse was a bit tricky. I had planned on buying a kit, but couldn't find one I liked that didn't have a lot of bad reviews, so decided to custom build. What started out as an 8X10 greenhouse is now a 7X12 as there were services running under where I wanted it.

I hired a friend to build it and he was able to come up with a number of good ideas, such as not having a regular peaked roof, but changing it to more of a lean-to style, which fits the space better.

It isn't the greenhouse I wanted, but it is the greenhouse I need. I won't be doing much with it this winter, tho I am experimenting with salad greens and currently trying to get my kitchen herbs going so I can bring them back into my house. Looking forward to finally having decent space to get things started in the spring.

It looks a well organized space.
PVC (the affordable ones) or polycarbonate (the crazy expensive kind)? I assume that's just one sheet thick, so you're not going to be able to heat it for winter use. But it should extend your growing season by a month in spring and maybe longer in fall. It's quite tall, so in springtime, you can maybe put in a shelf above the bench, to liberate some work space and still have lots of seedlings.
My one concern is the slope of the roof. What's you snow situation?

Thank you :)

It is single polycarb panels. Would have liked to have gotten double thickness, but that was more than the budget would allow and as is, the budget got broken. So it won't be an all-year greenhouse. I may look at lining with several layers of bubble wrap in the future if I want to try for it. I have a space heater in there now just to keep it a bit warmer in there for the next few weeks. Over the winter it will be nice for the seeds I will start that need to overwinter for spring planting.

I do have a lot of flex in there for space. The horizontals on the south wall will make get spots for small starter pots and I will be able to add another shelf there. I hope to be starting and growing a lot of things. I retired last year and am looking forward to expanding my vegetable and flower gardens and losing quite a bit of lawn.

We can get quite a bit of snow. The roof is 8' at the top of the wall and drops to 7' on the lower edge.

Welcome to NGA, Jean Smiling

You might need a roof rake for the snow... although it pains me to even think about snow right now!

I can't tell from your photos but am wondering if you have adequate ventilation? You will probably be a little surprised at how warm it can get in a GH when the sun is out, even on a cold day.

There are gaps at the top of the walls and below the roof. In the summer I will have the door and window open and a fan to circulate the air. If need be, my friend can put another window in on the east end. Just have to scrounge one that would fit.

Here is a relatively cheap solution to the snow removal: https://www.sealcoating.com/co... . You can get just the head and screw in your own mop handle. But you might not even need it: PVC is quite slippery and heats through easily; we find snow falls off by itself most of the time. Might just need some help when there is a very heavy snowfall, since you don't want a lot of weight piling on single sheet.
I hope you get lasting joy out of this new project!

G'Day, Jean. Looks like a good start on greenhouse growing.

My first greenhouse was framed with scrap wood from motorcycle and snowmobile shipping pallets. The windows and door were salvaged from an old junk trailer. Nevertheless, it grew some wonderful tomatoes, peppers, and greens.

Post some photos of your first fruits. And welcome to the forum.
