I just found this very interesting video on YouTube.

Is there anyone who could translate or summarize the subtitles?

I have some of these plastic rooting balls and was planning on trying this method on my older woody peonies.

@lizbest and I have been discussing this method for a while.

LG:she is using layerage method and tried to grow roots from TP woody new grown branches. She had almost 100% successful rate drying the spring time, however, there are 3 rooted branches died because some insects stroke on those new shoots. She also tried the same method during the fall time with good success.

LG, your link is actually to the second part of her video. 1st part is here...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

There are better speakers of Chinese on this forum than me and subtitles are in Traditional Chinese, but he/she is suggesting to use this method on 1 yo stems... uses rooting powder... then he/she cuts the branch before winter..

Thank you, Alex. I'm glad you posted this, because it does show that she "roughs up" the stem before putting the rooting ball on.

I still can not determine if she puts anything like peat or sphagnum moss inside of the ball. I am planning to do that.

My tree peonies are going to look like they have some exotic disease they'll have som many of those balls on them! So many variations to try! Thanks ST52 and Alex!
