irisarian said:Most of the miniature tall bearded iris are diploids. Some people (see Paul Black) are working with tets. The difficulty was getting the flowers the proper size (3" X 3"). If you see a pink MTB, it is a tet. That color doesn't exist in diploids.

Thanks for the very useful information.
I am still sorting out iris genetics. That would mean the pink TBs are Tets?
This is probably naïve but is "Billie the Brownie" a Tet as it seems to have a pink cast to it?

Ratchet and Richard ~ Many historic irises can be found at Bluebird Haven Iris Garden.

http://www.bluebirdhavenirisga...

When you get the catalog page, it will appear empty. Go to the top of the page and click on a letter. If you wish, start with the letter A. Then you will get that page.

No other vendor has as many historic irises than Bluebird Haven.

Evelyn,

There's one that she lists, but is not for sale. I'm hoping that the lead she has works out for it cause it's one I want. It's called moonscape mist. The ones I listed above I am going thru an iris farm about 90 minutes away. They participate in the hips guardians program

Richard ~ As a backup plan, you might want to call Mary at Bluebird Haven and ask about it.

Billie the Brownie does have a pearlescent glow. I see it as "pink" flush.
3 inch blossoms! Amazing.
The miniatures are truly charming.

Lucy: Thanks for letting me know where the name Quogue was derived from. It was just such a uniquely spelled word(lots of vowels) so it made me curious.

Rachet: I am so sorry. I referred to Mint Jubilee wrong. It is Frosted Julep. I have no clue how I could have gotten that far off. But it is very Minty.

I shall name my next stray cat, Mint Jubilee! Nice name. Has a ring to it, what?
I did look at Frosted Julep..Very Pretty with a touch of green. It is in the veins, the color.
Those greens posted earlier, blue veins and yellow ground. Yes, now I remember, blue and yellow make green.

Rachet: It has a very green undercarriage and actually seemed to go beyond just green veins, as some of that green underside actually shows through. Hopefully I am blessed with a bloom this coming Spring and will try to pay closer attention to what makes it look so Green.

Yep, you can name your Cat Mint Julep and dye its hair Green for St Patrick's day Hilarious!

The green undercarriage, green veins, the hue showing through, that is the way I thought to go also, if I went.
A pale, pure green without a hint of white or yellow. Mint!
I can see it now.
And you're after me own heart " Green cat for St. Patty's Day! Green Iris for Easter..and all Christendom green with envy.
