'Red Lion' ?

I first saw one ~40 yrs ago at a friend's parent's home. (funny how some memories
stay with you).

It was in a pot "in" the living room window, and I remember how the whole plant...
the large bulb, stately stalk, leaves, & especially the large beautiful scarlet
blooms (3!)....totally impressed me. Sticking tongue out

They are elegant plants.
And , make excellent banners & Christmas presents. Thumbs up

I inherited this from my late grandmother, repotted it, and made it bloom again...
Its been there since I was a child. So at least some 20 years old....

That makes it extra special.

Thanks for sharing that, Stefan.
I hope it will be blooming another 20yrs at least. Thumbs up

I'm sure this has been elsewhere but my Christmas Amaryllis are starting to go down. What's the next plan for it? I'm not wanting to toss it if I can get it to bloom annually.

Its probably a very old plant. This year it has been exposed outdoor for the summer(in the shade though) .
My other grandmother is taking most of the care. But the repotting and watering regime is set for cacti and done by me.

So, you set it out for summer, then bring it indoors to overwinter? Do you force it indoors as well? Or just let it flower outside?

Here is an article on care of amaryllis, & basically what I do. Smiling
But I also trim the old roots back to ~ 1".

Stefan, a beautiful Christmas-red color on your "slice" of amaryllis. What a nice memento of your grandmother. Smiling
