Yes, the trees are bald cypress which grow along the banks of the Guadalupe River. The contest photo was taken from a bridge in Waring, Texas.
Hiking and taking photos along the rivers and streams is one of my favorite activities. The cypress trees are especially beautiful during the fall when the needles turn red.

Although spring season is pretty too.

In this area of Texas, the cypress don't form "knees" like they do in Louisiana. But the root systems can be spectacular on these massive trees.

Thanks again for your comments. This was my first-ever photo contest and I'm still surprised that I actually won. It was fun.

Wow, such a beautiful place, I didn't realize Texas had cypress trees, the water looks like spring water. They are all stunning! The cypress can take on a nice fall coloring here sometimes, if the temps are just right, which this year we had a lot of cool nights in November. I've always admired cypress trees for their massive above ground roots, they even look good dead. Hilarious!
