It's interesting that such a narrow slice that includes just enough of the leaves, and just enough of the center of the bloom with its unopened petals, can reveal the unmistakable character of a dahlia. Beautiful banner, Zoia.

Gigi, sadly not my Dinnerplate! I used to grow them but got tired of digging them in the Fall only to lose half of them inside over the winter. But they are very strong! They generally don't need staking. I spotted that one at a formal garden in Danvers MA

Yes same here! I used to grow them and they get soo tall. and with the strong winds and they break.

I grew mine in 5 gal plastic pots this year, and then put them
in the garage for the winter. Same for my tree lilies.
So far, so good. Smiling
