Does anyone know which seedling won the 2012 King Of The Hill award? On Dec. 31, 2012, I received an email from Cary Peterson, indicating it was the last day to vote -- and so I did -- and last year the winner was announced right after the first of the year. I've been checking every couple of weeks since then, but it only shows the contestants and doesn't indicate the winner. I recently emailed Cary Peterson about it but haven't heard back from him.
Josette Ratte had the winner, a very pretty lavender with pattern eye Double. An image of it can be seen in the upper left corner of the My DL homepage.
I had received an email about the winner and even looked at it on mydaylilies.com along with the runner-ups but then not long after I couldn't find it on the site. I could view all of the entries but couldn't find where it listed the winners. I was trying to show James Hall because one of his was 3rd or 4th runner-up.
Thank you for that info, Char. I just got into the Mydaylilies website and I think I see it if it's the double up by "Growing Daylilies Together." But talk about hiding it in plain sight! I certainly never received an email announcing the winner like Michele did, and I was actually looking for one so it couldn't have just slipped by me. And I can't believe they don't have it as one of the items you can select at any time so everyone can see them for several months at least, or better yet having all the winners for each year there for people to view all the time. It seems like last year, when Fred won, the results were there for anyone to click on for a long time. Oh well...
You're welcome Betty. I can't remember if I received an email either, but like you I'm disappointed the results are so difficult to access this year. The Double seedling that won is extremely distinctive, Josette has some other exciting seedlings as well. Can't wait to see more of her work in the future.
Congrats to James, too! With all the beautiful seedlings entered this year... it was difficult to pick a favorite.
Char and Anne, thank you so much! And is there a link to where the runners-up were shown? It would be fantastic if we could see those too.
Is there a way the King Of the Hill Award and Runners-Up could be permanently listed in the left panel just as the Top 100 Daylilies (by year) are listed all the time?
I've been looking at Josette's photos of her seedlings, and -- WOW! I love some of those wonderful intricate patterns! Is she in another country, and will her daylilies be available here at all?

King of the Hill Award hmm I learn all kinds of new things here on ATPs. Is this a AHS award or only on the mydls site? I haven't been there in a long, long time.
Last year Fred won the award for his seedling and Lyle's seedling (now named Ada Minkler, but won't be available until 2014) was the First Runner-Up. Fred, have you introduced that one yet? There was a big Newsletter email announcement from Cary Peterson to everyone on Jan. 2nd last year about it -- but no Newsletter announcement this year. If you get into the Mydaylilies website you can click on "Newsletter" in the box on the left side and then you can see all the Newsletters from them.
I emailed Cary Peterson about it again, asking if there's any way the KOTH could be permanently included in that box on the left side, but I still haven't heard anything back from him. I hope he's not ill or something.
