Team Whimsy or Team Traditional?

This week's article takes a peak at the inside of our gardens. Would you describe yourself as being a whimsical gardener, or more traditional?

I love them both! The idea of mixing them speaks to me. I really like the idea of walking along a trimmed and tamed path only to find a plastic flamenco or two posed among the flowers!

Another somewhat whimsical idea I like is using sheep for lawnmowers. I dream of a green expanse dotted with wooly creatures keeping the place neat (and fertilizing it a bit along the way Hilarious! ) I wouldn't mind a pony for on-site transportation too. I might use a halter or bridle for him/her, but the only other thing I would strap on might be a unicorn horn! Hilarious!

Maybe one day. Crossing Fingers!

Very nice joannakat..

I prefer the wild side …free and colorful. Lots of interest with color, texture, form with adding in a few new shapes for interest like lattice or arches gazebos..shapes with framed sections by plant combinations and each section representing small scenes - vignettes .
Add a few fenced in horses in the background to keep at bay from eating everything in the garden, as well as adding solid garden ornaments , water features to fill in and complete the picture. It adding plants that bring birds, butterflies and hopefully the good bugs as well as adding applications of rock and much to add texture to many areas for interest to make the visitors eye stop, flow and relax with the garden. The garden can be themed or sections of separate themes.
In my view garden design is any one's idea that makes the gardener feel happy and share the love of gardening with others that appreciate the skill that it takes many of us years to learn and continue to learn as we apply our own vision of what a lovely garden can become even with just a few pots or plants. It's all in the eye of the beholder…
