I bought a greenhouse kit from Smith & Hawken in 1986. I've had it storage all this time and now want to set it up. However, I can't find the assembly manual! Does any one have a copy of that manual? Or does anyone know who manufactured the aluminum and Lexan kits for S&H?

Welcome to NGA, @barbaracwell Smiling

How large is the greenhouse? Is it in a box with any sort of identifying information?

Excellent questions, Weedwhacker! I bought the larger of the two kits on offer: 6 feet by 10 feet. I am in the process of laying everything out and can find no identifying information like a manufacturer's stamp in the aluminum. A thorough examination of the smaller cardboard boxes of bolts, clips and other fittings MAY reveal some vital information.
I've been looking at an assembly video of the Erromy 6x6 greenhouse and the extrusions look very similar to mine (the size and price don't match; I paid about $2,000 for the S&H kit in 1986!).
I even emailed Paul Hawken! A Jonathon Hawken replied saying the business has been sold several times over; try contacting Target. . .
Thank you for your note of welcome. It's neat--bordering on exciting--to receive a reply from Michigan!

Someone else may well have more info - but I'm wondering if it might be a Palram, they have been sold by quite a few different companies, I think (and to me, at least, look a lot like the Erromy model).

There are pictures of a 6x10 Palram here:

Here's a link to the instruction manual for a 6x10 Palram:

Best of luck with your project - I'm looking forward to hearing how it works out for you!

There is a basic formula you can try. I am assuming it is a standard, free standing greenhouse.
Your shortest pieces of aluminum should be the side ribs. There should be 4 corner ribs made to accommodate glass or plexiglas in two directions.
Heavier pieces of aluminum rib should be the roof pieces. There should be triangles inside which are to brace the roof to the side walls.
The bottom pieces made to run the 6' x 6' shape or the 6' x 10' shape might be the heaviest pieces, thickest metal, bent oddly in order to sit atop a wooden foundation like 2 x 8 or 2 x 10 lumber sitting vertical on edge.
If you erect a 6 x 10 solid and SQUARE foundation, that might be the first thing to do. Using treated lumber of course.

I seriously doubt you'll find the exact instructions after 36 years. Are you sure that you didn't take it out of the packing and bring it inside when you had the intention to build it. Then maybe change your mind and got side tracked?

I definitely agree about having a solid and square foundation, and also be sure the structure is well secured to the foundation. A greenhouse that turns into a kite isn't a good thing.

I'm sure you'll figure it out, how difficult can it be?
Please let us know how many spare parts you have left when finished; that's always the most exciting part to me.
I find myself most amusing.
