I don't see anything wrong with it. It looks awesome to me! I was going to take a pottery class this semester, but I just couldn't work it into my schedule.

Thank you folks for the kind words. A woman with a kiln wanted to do pottery with somebody and was willing to teach me the coil method. Greg, the pockets were weird, I had to stuff newspaper into the wet pot to keep the pockets flared out. Clint, try and squeeze in a class when you can; it was a fun experience. Patty, that's just one pot, 2 photos from different sides.
The funny thing about planting into the pot was that I put in a too -large-PVC pipe for easier watering and later found a very small frog living it there. Every time I watered, his body would float up to the top and when the pot needed to be watered, I would find the frog at the very bottom of the pipe. It freaked me out that I had a frog living in the pot; I'm not much for amphibious creatures but I named it Andrea. It eventually moved on to the very moist convent lawn across the way... Smiling

haha! I think there is a place in Seattle where you pay what you can and then do "hours" helping out around the studio, and they have classes and exhibits etc. so may have to followup on it! My problem is that the pots were always very heavy! I wasn't very good! Thumbs down

Great strawberry pot Bev. The larger planting pockets are a great idea - and so much more practical. You have it planted beautifully too. Lovey dubby

I don't mean to be insensitive but its hard to believe you have snow that's on the ground! Stay warm and glad things are warming up! It must very quickly get into higher temps? Do ya'll get humidity and high temps in the summer or does it stay mild? (For some reason I imagine you living in or near woods!) ?? Whistling

Our snow is usually gone by now, this has just been an especially long winter. And YES!!! I go out as soon as I can. Everything is pretty wet and soggy with all the snow melting so I can't go in my gardens yet, I only putter from the edges where I can reach in. But I'm thrilled to be doing that much! Hurray!

We live a bit outside the city limits, but not in or near a woods. Mostly farmland, which is unfortunately getting sold off bit by bit. Across the road they built a county park. It a "natural" park for hiking mostly, not pools or golf courses or anything, and it's pretty nice. But the giant field behind us was just sold and they're building a hospital there. Thumbs down So now we'll get to hear screaming ambulances and helicopters flying in at all hours of the day. They were thinking about building a school there, so I'm happy the hospital won though.

It gets very hot and humid in July and August. Last year we had several weeks in the 90's. Well, that's hot for us anyway. And generally it rains for most of April, but that washes away all the yucky stuff left from the snow, so that's OK.

Bev, love the pot,I totally understand why you made it.I have one pot that the holes have no lip on the bottom, when i pour water into the top it comes out the holes,to water the bottom half you have to water very very slowly or tip it over & pour water slowly into the holes one at a time.

I find it funny the temp's you all are talking about because it hasn't gotten below the 40's day or night & we are having temp's during the day as high as 80*. During July & August we have weeks & weeks of temp's in the triple digits.

I am going to try and take the semps in the top of that pot out together so any that are attached will stay that way.Any that are loose i will put in a pot and keep an eye on them.I did that last summer with the 4 NOIDS that i was given and then by fall they should be big enough & have enough roots to plant

Will take pioc's when i get them out.
A green thumb comes only as a result of the mistakes you make while learning to see things from the plants point of view!!

Jojoe, because that water run-off happens with the pockets I use a spray bottle specifically for them. I set the bottle spray for more of a stream/jet of water than a mist. (You know that you can adjust that by twisting the mist head at tip of spray contraption? Sorry if you already knew that!) It focuses the water right to the plants that need it.
AND Jackie, I can't believe you had lil' GH falling over too! Thumbs down What's with those GH from wherever? Cursed?
