Hi there, planty folks. I've had this anthurium for a couple months now and I've been lucky enough to get a bloom out of it. However, I purchased this plant as a wendlingeri and the inflorescence definitely doesn't resemble wendlingeri (specifically, the curvy spadix the species is known for).

The spadix color also doesn't match the spadix on my blooming vittarifolium, though it's definitely possible that there's some variance in the species I'm not aware of.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what this anthurium could be?

Yeah you did not apparently get what was advertized there. TBH this looks like an Anthurium bakeri to me. I may be wrong....but the easy way to tell will be, if that inflo self pollinates, and produces bright cherry red pointy berries, its bakeri. See what happens with the inflo. Its a little hard to tell some of these strap leaves apart. But wendlingerii has a very rounded top where the leaf blade comes off the petiolar attachment, its a bit wider at the top than yours. Other potential plants could be pallidiflorum, gracile or fasciale. I would rule out vittariifolioum because the spathe on vitt has a lavendar cast and some striations on it. I'll take some photos of some of my straps for comparison when I am out in the GH today

Ah, that's a bit upsetting. I paid a good amount for this guy to get shipped out here. I'll have to talk with the person I ordered from, hopefully it was an honest mistake - I've been wanting a wendlingeri in my collection for quite a while now and was excited to have one.

I also suspect A. bakeri for the rigid and narrowly lanceolate leaves at the base of the blade
below ia my A. bakeri, and yes bakeri set seed easily without helps, so soon you will see seeds if that is indeed an A. bakeri

A wendlingeri, looks very similar, but it has thin, more pendant foliage, not rigid. The base of the blade are broader even when they are very young.
Mine are juvenile, very slow grower, I kept cutting it, so I do not have photos of mature specimen at the moment

They are so slow-growing that algae usually present on the surface, hence the non shiny surface above, but if you clean the leaves, it is lot more glossy compare to A bakeri. I do not wipe my plants unless they are going to be sell or traded. This one I trade with a friend last month and clean the leaves prior.

Thank you both for the identification. At least now I know what this mystery plant in my collection is - now hopefully the seller responds!

compare your inflo to vittariifolium, not a match
Thumb of 2022-02-02/Gina1960/7d6ba4

also compare to pendulafolium, again no match

I have a wendlingerii, but, its still really a seedling and would be worthless as a comparison just yet. It also does not match A. pallidiflorum.

Hopefully you will get some satisfaction from the seller....but I would not count on it especially if you have had it for a while now. Some people will refuse to admit their mistakes, and blame it (especially on Anthuriums) with 'variability of the species' or 'Its just a juvenile".
If your spadix presents you with thiscenario below, you can be certain its bakeri

Luckily the seller was extremely helpful, apologetic, and gracious! Got a partial refund for the majority of what I paid and I'm keeping the plant. It is quite a handsome plant despite not being one I originally intended to keep.
