Hi, my jade plant is facing a south-west window, and I recently noticed there was a brownish-black stripe on one of the stems.

I think it might be root rot, but because it's shaped as a stripe, and it's only on one stem I'm not too sure. I'm also unsure if it's root rot because I only water the jade plant every 4-6 weeks. Could it potentially be the pink pot that I placed over the actual plastic pot the jade plant is in, impacting my jade plant's health?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much :)

To me..it is too minimal to bother with.

As long as that container has drain holes, and there is no mushy part anywhere on the trunk of that plant then just let it be. You already observe good watering interval, and plant seems to be near a good window..so it seems okay to me.

Jade plants also eventually form a hard bark texture on the stem and branches..maybe it is finally starting to form it. So I will just leave it alone and observe some more. I do not know how old your plant is..it will do such as it ages further.

Got to add..if that container has no drain holes, then you have to make drain holes. No drain holes, excess water just makes perched water table inside container that will
cause the rotting eventually.

I agree Wanted to add that your jade looks extremely healthy and happy. Doubtful that rot is happening in there Thumbs up

I think I can see a pot within the outer pot, so I'm guessing you've got drainage. Just make sure not to let it sit in water after it's drained.

Hi asldkfj Welcome!

Your lovely Jade Plant (Crassula ovata) looks very happy and healthy and I don't think you have a thing to worry about. The photo doesn't enlarge so I can't clearly see the dark stripe on the stem but it may be the normal habit of the stem lignifying and becoming woody.

Here are two photos from our database showing the woody stems of juvenile plants:
